What is a 2-10 HBW Home Warranty Service Agreement?

A 2-10 HBW Home Warranty Service Agreement helps homeowners reduce the overall cost of owning a home by protecting them against unexpected system and appliance breakdowns.

This video illustrates how a Home Warranty Service Agreement can not only help homeowners save money, but help make homes more valuable in a competitive real estate market.

What Systems and Appliances Are Covered?

The 2-10 HBW Home Warranty Service Agreement covers the repair and/ or replacement of a home’s major systems and appliances, and includes both parts and labor.

Covered Systems include:

  • Air Conditioner / Freon Split System
  • Furnace
  • Plumbing
  • Water Heater
  • Electrical Panel / Wiring
  • Air Conditioner / Freon Split System

Centrally ducted refrigeration systems, including heat pumps are eligible for coverage. As are geothermal and water source systems, evaporative coolers and built-in electric wall units. The thermostat, ductwork and plenum are covered too! Our coverage includes upgrades required to meet government mandates regarding efficiency and refrigerant standards. We will even replace your thermostat with a like kind, ensuring all key features are matched.

  • Furnace

Heaters that provide warmth through a central duct system are eligible for coverage on the Service Agreement. That can include gas, electric or oil powered central systems, as well as geothermal and water sourced systems. The thermostat, ductwork, interior gas lines are eligible too!

  • Plumbing

In the most basic terms, all plumbing comes down to pipes and fixtures that bring and take water and waste where they belong. Plumbing is like the circulatory system for your house. Pipe leaks and breaks in water and waste lines are eligible for coverage, as are toilets and the clearing of mainline stoppages.

  • Water Heater

Every home has a water heater, and the mechanical components within gas, electric, hydronic and propane units are eligible. Tankless units are covered at no additional charge, and our Supreme coverage can help cover modification, code violation, haul away and disposal costs should they be required.

  • Electrical Panel / Wiring

In the modern home, keeping your systems, appliances and gadgets running is definitely a priority. We're here to help! The wiring (including telephone), switches, outlets and doorbell system are all eligible for coverage.

Covered Appliances include:

  • Refrigerator
  • Oven
  • Dishwasher
  • Built-in Microwave
  • Disposal
  • Trash Compactor
  • Washer & Dryer
  • Refrigerator

Similar to the air conditioning system that cools your home, the refrigerator uses a cooling agent moving through a compressor to refrigerate, or freeze, your food. The ice maker and mechanical components that keep your groceries cool are eligible with Standard Coverage, along with Appliance Color Match.

  • Oven

Today's ovens come in two basic types: electric or gas. An electric oven uses large coiled wires inside that heat up in order to cook the food. A gas oven works in a similar fashion, but uses a flame instead of an electric coil to heat the food. The mechanical parts and components of both gas and electric ovens are eligible for coverage. Extra items on your oven may also be eligible with Supreme coverage. Be sure to look at the Service Agreement in your state.

  • Dishwasher

Dishwashers are pretty straightforward in their operation, and all of the parts that perform the washing and drying tasks are eligible with the Standard coverage. For items like handles, hinges, rollers and more, check out our Supreme coverage.

  • Built-in Microwave

Microwaves built-in above your range, or into the wall of your kitchen, are eligible for coverage. That includes all of the parts that actually cook the food. Extras that can be added with Supreme Protection are rotisseries and meat probes.

  • Disposal

The disposal under your sink, including the plumbing in and out of the unit, are eligible for coverage.

  • Trash Compactor

All of the essential elements of the trash compactor are included in the eligible items on our Standard coverage, and we'll add the lock and key assembly and removable bucket with Supreme Protection.

  • Washer & Dryer

Clothes washers and dryers are included in this Home Warranty Service Agreement (sometimes as an option), even if you bring them along from your previous home. As with all of our appliance coverage, the mechanical components are eligible.

Because the needs of every home and homeowner is different, we also offer additional options. These are only available with buyer’s coverage, and provide protection for specific items.

Additional Coverage Options:

  • Pre-Season HVAC Tune-Up
  • Additional Refrigerator / Wine Cooler / Stand Alone Freezer
  • Extended Pipe Leak
  • Roof Leak
  • Septic System
  • Pool / Spa Equipment
  • Water Softener
  • Well Pump
  • Pre-Season HVAC Tune-Up

Homeowners can have one of our preferred service contractors perform a tune-up on up to two HVAC systems with this optional coverage. The tune-up can take place in specific maintenance windows, either in February and March or October and November. This preventive maintenance option allows the homeowner to maintain their systems before the extreme-temperature seasons.

  • Additional Refrigerator / Wine Cooler / Stand Alone Freezer

o Sold separately, this option allows a homeowner to add protection for additional refrigerators, built-in wine coolers, wet bar refrigerators and/or freestanding freezers. Like with the coverage that is already provided for the home’s primary refrigerator, the mechanical components that keep these units cooling are eligible for coverage.

  • Extended Pipe Leak

This buyer option provides protection for pipe leaks that occur outside the foundation of the home, including both water and drain lines.

  • Roof Leak

The roof leak option provides coverage for leaks in the roof material and flashing over the living area of the home.

  • Septic System

This option provides coverage for the septic tank, the ejector pump from the house to the septic tank and the line from the house to the septic tank.

  • Pool / Spa Equipment

For those homes that have a pool, spa or hot tub, we offer coverage options for both freshwater and saltwater systems. All components and parts related to heating and pumping, and pool sweep motors and filtration systems are eligible for protection. For saltwater pools, the saltwater cell and circuit board are also eligible.

  • Water Softener

Homeowners that reside in areas of hard water can add this option to get coverage for water softeners. Coverage is eligible for all components and parts of domestic water softeners.

  • Well Pump

This option offers coverage for a home’s well pump, if it is utilized for the primary dwelling. All parts and components of the well pump are eligible for coverage.

Appliance Replacement Offer

When placing a service request for a covered appliance, the homeowner has the option to proceed with the service request or to participate in the Appliance Replacement Offer program. If the homeowner opts to continue with their service request as usual, 2-10 HBW will dispatch a service contractor to diagnose the failure and repair or replace as necessary. If the homeowner chooses the Appliance Replacement Offer, 2-10 HBW will provide a check for $100 that can be combined with the money saved on the service fee, and apply that towards a brand new appliance of their choice from any retailer. All our homeowners enjoy exclusive access to the GE® and Whirlpool® Home Appliance Discounts program where they can purchase large and small appliances up to 65% off retail.

PLEASE NOTE: Certain items and events are not covered in our home systems and appliance warranty service agreement. For specific coverages, please refer to your service agreement or contact us at 800.775.4736.
