McCalle Fryar wins Excellence under 45 Award from TAB

The Texas Association of Builders (TAB) announced that McCalle Fryar was one of their Excellence under 45 Award winners in 2021. McCalle has been with 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty (2-10 HBW) for 16 years. We want to share with you why TAB chose her for this prestigious award.

McCalle’s work with HomeAid

Since 2008, McCalle has worked with HomeAid—specifically, HomeAid Houston and HomeAid Austin. HomeAid is a leading national non-profit provider of housing and resources for people experiencing homelessness.

McCalle’s work with HomeAid has had profound effects on the fight against homelessness. She led the charge in growing the HomeAid Amazing Ladies Organization (HALO) luncheon from just a handful of people to nearly 500 attendees a year. In addition to recruiting builders for the cause, the HALO luncheon has raised over $597,000 to help the homeless—especially single women and children—find comfort and care in their time of greatest need.

“HomeAid is more than just an event,” McCalle said. “It’s a state of mind, a journey into your heart, and an opportunity to share stories and love for those less fortunate.”

McCalle and HomeAid address Hurricane Harvey’s damage

In August 2017, Hurricane Harvey did catastrophic damage to the Texas coast, especially in the Houston Metro area. McCalle and HomeAid Houston understood that the hurricane affected the less fortunate most, due to their lack of insurance and funds.

In response, HomeAid created an effort called BuildAid, whose mission was to fix unlivable homes. McCalle worked with BuildAid, getting vendors and builders to donate time and materials to help these people. In the end, BuildAid fixed 155 homes.

Continuing to support HomeAid’s mission

After the work HomeAid did to address Hurricane Harvey, McCalle kept working hard to promote HomeAid’s mission. In 2018 and 2019, McCalle chaired the HomeAid Austin annual luncheon. These luncheons were hugely successful, raising over $335,000 together. McCalle said that her 2017 experience with BuildAid in Houston helped her guide these luncheons to the success they achieved.

In winning TAB’s Excellence under 45 Award, McCalle sees an opportunity to spread HomeAid’s mission farther.

“It gives me a unique opportunity to give a voice to the great work HomeAid has done for homeless Texans statewide,” McCalle said. “Though we’ve expanded our reach over the last 13 years, there are still many people in the building industry who don’t know about HomeAid.

“The mission of HomeAid is bigger than me. It has a unique way of helping the most vulnerable. I want to do everything I can to bring this mission to every builder in Texas.”

“The only thing more impressive than McCalle’s talent is her sense of compassion,” said Jeanine Jones, Vice President of Business Development for 2-10 HBW. “She gives a voice to the great work HomeAid has done for homeless Texans while bringing HomeAid’s mission to all Texas builders. Doing the right thing is ingrained in her DNA.”
